...Yuichi Honda went 5-for-6 tonight against the Hiroshima Carp.  For Honda, it was just the second time in his career that he collected 5 hits in one game.  Incidentally, three of the five hits came with two strikes.

...Tsuyoshi Wada picked up his 17th Inter-league victory of his career and now has a win in 12 different stadiums.

...Nobuhiro Matsuda saw 21 pitches during his BP session today.

...Hiroki Kokubo started practicing again today at the Ni-gun Saitozaki training facilities.

...Tsuyoshi Wada will be going for his fourth straight win today.

...Nobuhiro Matsuda will begin taking regular BP today and, assuming all goes well, could join the Ni-gun roster for regular practice some time next week.  He's also on target to play in a Ni-gun game against Chunichi on the 16.

...Kenji Otonari made a surprise relief appearance last night and topped out at 150km/h on the radar gun.  Final line: 1 IP, 4 BF, 17 NP, 1 H, 2 SO, 0 BB, 0 R, 0 ER.  No word on what this might mean regarding his possible start against the Hanshin Tigers tomorrow.

...Munenori Kawasaki knocked out his first homer to lead-off a game in his career.  The last Hawk to hit a lead-off homer in the top of the first was Yuichi Honda on 9/26/2009 (vs Nippon Ham); the last Hawk to hit a lead-off homer in the bottom of the first was Honda on 6/20/2009 (vs Yokohama).   Hitoshi Tamura hit a homer out of the four-hole for the first time in his career.

...Yao-Hsun Yang topped out at 154km/h during his appearance last night, setting a new career high.
