6/7/2010: Hideki Matsui knocks out his 150th MLB homer

Games from the 6th:

Angels 9 - Mariners 4
Ichiro Suzuki started in right and batted first.  He went 2-for-3: walk, single to center, intentional walk, RBI double to left-center, ground out to short.

Ichiro has now hit safely in 10 straight games.

Hideki Matsui was the starting DH and batted fifth.  He went 2-for-5: fly out to center, strikeout swinging, solo homer, single to left, ground out to first.

The home run was Matsui's 150th of his MLB career (and 9th of the current season).

Orioles 4 - Red Sox 3
Hideki Okajima entered the game in the 10th and surrendered a walk-off RBI single in the 11th.  Final line: 1.1 IP, 7 BF, 1 H, 0 SO, 2 BB, 1 R, 1 ER.  Okajima suffered his second loss of the season and is now 2-2.

Giants 6 - Pirates 5
Akinori Iwamura entered the game in the 7th with 1 out and hit a double to right-center.

Astros 6 - Cubs 3
Kosuke Fukudome started in right and batted first.  He went 2-for-5: ground out to short, ground out to first ground out to second, infield single, infield singe.

Fukudome also threw out a runner at third in the bottom of the 1st.

Mets 7 - Marlins 6
Hisanori Takahashi started the game and gave up 5 runs over 5.1 innings of work.  He also surrendered two homers.  Final line: 5.1 IP, 24 BF, 6 H, 5 SO, 2 BB, 5 R, 5 ER.  Takahashi was not involved in the final decision.

Ryota Igarashi entered the game in the 7th and gave up a run over an inning of work.  Final line: 1.0 IP, 6 BF, 1 H, 0 SO, 2 BB, 1 R, 1 ER.


Seems Kenshin Kawakami will continue to pitch out of the starting rotation, at least for the time being.  (via Nikkan Sports)


Koji Uehara played some catch (at a distance of about 60 feet) for the first time in about 2 weeks on the 5th.
