...Hitoshi Tamura was held out of the starting line-up on Monday night due to his neck pains (he also did not take part in pre-game practice).  The Hawks will likely make a decision on whether to take him off the active roster or not when they get the results to his check-up.

...Nobuhiko Matsunaka was taken out of the game after he fouled a ball off his right knee in the 5th inning.

...Nobuhiro Matsuda will be joining the Ni-gun team for regular practice tomorrow.  On Sunday, Matsuda took about 50 pitches during BP and could move on to hitting in the cages as early as tomorrow.  The team is hoping Matsuda will be ready to play in a Ni-gun game against Chunichi on the 16th.

...Hiroki Kokubo will begin working on his upper body again tomorrow.  On Sunday, Kokubo worked out for about 3.5 hours, focused mostly on his lower body, and ended his session with ten 50m sprints.

...Nobuhiko Matsunaka was held out of the starting line-up on Sunday -- he was given the day off for rest.  Matsunaka is currently in the midst of a 6-game hitting streak.

...Nagisa Arakaki took the mound against Ni-gun Orix on Sunday and surrendered a run in 6 innings of work.  Final line: 89 NP, 6.0 IP, 24 BF, 6 H, 1 BB, 5 SO, 1 R, 0 ER.  This was his first Ni-gun start since 5/9 (vs Orix).  Said Arakaki, "If my back is ok, I'll pitch.  If not, I won't force myself."

...Kenji Otonari, the Pacific League's version of Masanori Ishikawa (?), dropped another game yesterday and is now 0-6 in his last 9 starts.  Seems the club also scratched his next start.

...Jose Ortiz suffered a minor injury (torn right thumbnail) during pre-game fielding practice yesterday and had hit taped up for the game.  The problem didn't appear to cause him any problems during the game though: he went 2-for-4 with a run scored and had no trouble fielding a bunt in the 6th.
