Orix Buffaloes: June 8, 2010

by on Jun.08, 2010 @ 7:03 pm, under NPB

...The Buffaloes announced today that they are giving pitching coach Nobuyuki Hoshino time off (it appears to be some sort of health condition).  Chief Ikusei coach Hiroshi Kobayashi will take over Hoshino beginning from tomorrow's game.

...Even though Fernando Seguignol is not in Japan yet, the Buffaloes went ahead and added him to their roster yesterday.  Interestingly, the article I linked to also seems to indicate that Seguignol still needs to pass his physical.

...The Buffaloes connected for 10 consecutive hits last night in the 6th inning.  That actually tied an NPB record that was set on the same day by the Chiba Lotte Marines -- the Swallows connected for 11 hits last year, but that also included a walk after the 9th batter.

Last night's game was also the fourth game in franchise history where the team collected 25 or more hits in one game.  The previous three times:

27 hits on 4/6/1940
26 hits on 8/12/1949
25 hits on 4/9/1979

...The Buffaloes have posted event information for games against the Yokohama Bay Stars (6/12, 13).
