Toyo: Fujioka (藤岡 貴裕)
Tokai: Sugano (菅野 智之), Takayama (高山 亮太), Akama (赤間 謙)
I was at the game today and will be posting a few images I managed to snap while I was watching.
My quick take:
Fujioka looked a little wild at first, but quickly settled in. He doesn't have mind-blowing stuff, but he has composure and he mixes his pitches well. I think he also has a fairly deceptive fastball. Fujioka was hitting the mid-140's fairly regularly throughout the game.
Sugano wasn't nearly as impressive as I was hoping, but I suppose that's to be expected -- he pitched on Saturday and on Thursday, so it wouldn't be much of a surprise if he was feeling a bit tired. Still, he did hit 150km/h at least once. And if memory serves, he also broke three bats. There's also something about the way he carries himself on the mound. Even though he lost, he didn't seem lost on the mound.
Sugano also made the crowd laugh a bit when he threw a really slow pitch that bounced before it got to the catcher. The Toyo crowd got on him a little, but he just smiled out there on the mound.
Anyway, I'll be posting a bit more later.
