Yakult Swallows: June 15, 2010

by on Jun.15, 2010 @ 2:51 pm, under NPB

...Josh Whitesell worked out with the Ichi-gun roster yesterday.  Seems he impressed Junji Ogawa and Norichika Aoki with his bat during BP in the indoor cages.  Whitesell is currently expected to make his Swallows' debut on the 25th (vs Hanshin).

...Big night for Jamie D'Antona yesterday -- he went 2-for-5 with 2 homers, 2 runs, and 5 RBI.  Seems D'Antona has been studying some old video of his swing from 2008.

Incidentally, this was also D'Antona's third 2-homer game of the year.

...According to Sponichi, the Swallows are still hoping to go with two pitchers and two position players for their four foreign spots on the roster.  The Swallows could have a tough choice to make once Whitesell is ready to join the active roster.

...6,202.  That's how many fans were at Jingu Stadium last night.  That's an all-time low for Jingu Stadium, at least based on the figures that have been published since 2005.  It's also a season low for both leagues this year.
