Chunichi obtains Koji Mise from Softbank for Masaumi Shimizu

The Dragons held a press conference for Miura earlier today and announced that his new number with the team will be 39.
The Hawks held a press conference for Shimizu earlier today as well and announced that his new number will be 4.

The Chunichi Dragons and Softbank Hawks announced that they have agreed upon a trade that will send 35-year-old catcher Masaumi Shimizu to Fukuoka for 34-year-old reliever Koji Mise.
The Hawks wanted to get bolster their catching corp while the Dragons were looking for a left-handed reliever.

Another negligible trade by the Hawks. Mise has been nothing short of awful the last three years, and I don’t know anything about Shimizu to properly pass judgement.

I’m seeing this move as bringing in another player that can catch and eat up a few at bats.
Based on the numbers, Shimizu doesn’t have much of a bat. Not really sure how he is on defense, but it also doesn’t seem like the Dragons used him that much at Ni-gun either (based on numbers from 2005).
