Hanshin Tigers: June 25, 2010

by on Jun.25, 2010 @ 5:29 pm, under NPB

...Yasutomo Kubo is expected to start tonight's game against the Yakult Swallows.  After Kubo, it will likely be Naoto Tsuru on Saturday and Casey Fossum on Sunday.

...It seems the Tigers will be sticking with a line-up that has Takashi Toritani batting first and Matt Murton batting third.  The team was originally planning to "reset" the line-up back to Murton batting first and Toritani batting third once Toritani started hitting the ball well again.  But with the Tigers' putting up their 7th consecutive game of double-digit hits last night, they have decided to leave well enough alone (at least for the time being).

Speaking of Murton, he's just 5 hits away from 100 for the season.

...The Tigers are currently using a 5-man rotation.  But beginning on the 29th, they'll be moving back to a 6-man rotation and it seems that's when Yuya Ando will make his return.  Specifically, he slated to get the start on 7/1 against the Chunichi Dragons at Koshien Stadium.

Ando is/was supposed to start a Ni-gun game today against Chunichi.

...Kyuji Fujikawa got a chance to meet the man that got him interested in baseball during practice yesterday: Masaki Saito (currently a Giants pitching coach).  Seems he even got Saito to autograph a glove for him.

...The Tigers announced that they will be hosting Fireworks Night (花火ナイター) at Kurashiki Muscat Stadium on 7/6 (vs Yakult Swallows).  They plan on be firing off 450 fireworks at the end of the 5th inning.
