Mariners 7 - Yankees 0
Ichiro Suzuki started in right and batted first.  He went 1-for-5: fly out to right, ground out to first, single to center, ground out to short, ground out to third.

Rangers 6 - Angels 4
Hideki Matsui was the starting DH and batted fifth.  He went 0-for-3: strikeout, walk, ground out to third, ground out to short.

Rays 9 - Red Sox 4
Daisuke Matsuzaka started the game and gave up 3 runs over 6 innings of work.  Matsuzaka took the loss and is now 5-3.  Final line: 6 IP, 26 BF, 4 H, 7 SO, 4 BB, 1 HBP, 3 R, 3 ER.

Pirates 2 - Cubs 0
Kosuke Fukudome started in right and batted first.  He went 0-for-3: fly out to left, ground out to the pitcher, walk, strikeout swinging.

Mets 6 - Marlins 5
Ryota Igarashi entered the game in the 6th, with the Mets up 5-4, and tossed a scoreless inning in relief.  Final line: 1 IP, 4 BF, 1 H, 3 SO, 0 BB, 0 R, 0 ER.

Braves 4 - Nationals 1
Takashi Saito entered the game in the 8th, with the Braves up 4-1, and retired the side in order.  Final line: 1 IP, 3 BF, 0 H, 2 SO, 0 BB, 0 R, 0 ER.


Akinori Iwamura went 0-for-3 with a walk against the triple-A Columbus Clippers on the 30th.  Iwamura was the starting second baseman and batted second.


The media found out today that 21-year-old outfielder Naoya Washiya was released by the Washington Nationals prior to the start of the Rookie League Season in June.  Washiya is already back in Japan and is still in the process of figuring out what to do next.
