...Taiyo Fujita hit Shinji Takahashi in the head with a pitch in the 8th inning.  Takahashi was taken to the hospital for an exam and was given the ok sign.  Assuming he's fine, he is scheduled to travel with the team to Sendai on Friday for their series against the Rakuten Eagles.

...Kensuke Tanaka finished out the month of June with 43 hits and established a new franchise high for hits in a month.  The previous high of 42 was set by Tommy Cruz for the month of August in 1985.

Tanaka is also 4-for-8 with a homer and 12 RBIs in bases loaded situations this season.

...Tomohiro Nioka injured his right hamstring while running the bases in the 2nd inning.  He was diagnosed earlier today with a minor contusion on his right biceps femoris muscle.  Nioka will require about 10 days for a full recovery.

...The game was delayed 19 minutes last night because the team got stuck in traffic.  Both the Seibu Lions and the Fighters worked out at a facility located in Kawagoe, about a 30 minute ride from Omiya Stadium.  It was on the ride back from Kawagoe to Omiya Stadium that the bus got stuck in traffic.
