The move to one standard baseball and some other notes

by on Jul.06, 2010 @ 5:06 pm, under NPB

As mentioned yesterday, the NPB held an executive committee meeting yesterday.  In addition to what was reported yesterday:

The committee received their first sample ball from Mizuno.  The ball was put together based on opinions submitted by the 12 NPB clubs in June.  Samples of the ball will now be sent to each of the clubs for testing and additional feedback.  The NPB is hoping that Mizuno can begin production of the ball in August.  The NPB is trying to work towards a ball that doesn't carry as much.

The NPB will begin setting up informational seminars on pensions problems for retired players.

The 12 NPB clubs will go over (at length) the JPBPA's FA proposal during their meeting today.

While the Central League will likely begin their season on the 25th, the Pacific League could begin their season on the 19th.  The entire season will once again be 144 games long (including the 24 Inter-league games).
