...As planned, Hiroki Kokubo joined the Ichi-gun roster for practice today and was able to take part in the entire practice menu: fielding, running, and batting. He is currently set to rejoin the active roster tomorrow.
...Dennis Houlton started a Ni-gun game against Chunichi earlier today and gave up 2 runs on 5 hits over 4 innings of work. He threw a total 59 pitches. The two runs Houlton allowed scored in the first inning on 4 hits. Houlton told reporters that while he still wasn't quite 100%, he was pretty close.
It also seems as though both Houlton and Kenji Otonari will pitch at some point during an upcoming 9-game stretch that begin on the 13th.
...Last night, the Hawks were shutout for the 5th time this year.
...The Hawks are hopeful that Hiroki Kokubo will indeed to ready to join the active roster on the 10th (vs Chiba Lotte Marines). As of yesterday, Kokubo was scheduled to join the Ichi-gun roster for practice today.
Kokubo went 2-for-2 (including a walk and an RBI) batting out of the 4-hole as DH in a Ni-gun game against Orix yesterday.
...J.D. Durbin might find himself back at Ni-gun after he allowed 6 runs in 4 innings of work last night. As of last night, it seems the Hawks aren't sure whether or not to give him another chance before sending him to Ni-gun for more work.
Durbin is currently 0-2 in three starts and has given up 12 runs (all earned) over 16 innings of work.
...As of yesterday, Dennis Houlton was scheduled to pitch in a Ni-gun game against Chunichi today (about 50-60 pitches). Depending on how well he pitches, Houlton could find himself back on the Ichi-gun roster for a start against the Orix Buffaloes on the 16th.
Today's Ni-gun outing will be Houlton first game since he got injured during an Ichi-gun start against the Hanshin Tigers on 5/19.
