Brazell is also the 5th Tiger to lead both leagues with 30 homers. The other five were Koichi Tabuchi (1974, 1975), Hal Breeden (1977), Masayuki Kakefu (1982), and Randy Bass (1985). He's also the first player in franchise history, 16th player in NPB history, to reach 30 before the All-Star break. And of the 15 before Brazell, 11 went on to take the home run crown.

...Tomoaki Kanemoto walked for the 1,273rd time yesterday (Chris Bootcheck on the mound for Yokohama) and moved into a 5th place tie with Hiromitsu Kadota on the All-time list. Kanemoto needs just one walk in order to move into a 4th place tie with Isao Harimoto.
...It appears Kazuhito Futagami's season is more or less over. According to a team trainer, Futagami won't be allowed to throw for about 6-8 weeks and probably won't be in any condition to pitch in a game until at least October.
