...Today's game against the Yakult Swallows was rained out.
...Masahiro Yamamoto likely won't be ready to rejoin the active roster until sometime in August. On Sunday, Yamamoto started a Ni-gun game against Softbank and gave up one run on 4 hits over 5 innings of work. Yamamoto told reporters he wanted to get in a little more work at Ni-gun so that he could try out a few more things. His status for next season will largely depend on how he does in the second half.
Nikkan Sports has a slightly different take, saying that Yamamoto could get his last start at Ni-gun on the 17th, which could put him back on the active roster before the end of the month.
...Doala thinks he's a better predictor of outcomes than Paul the octopus (he also thinks he's the original). For those that aren't familiar with Doala's prediction method: a successful Doala back-flip in the 7th inning predicts a Dragons' victory while a failed back-flip means a loss. It could also be argued that his back-flips mean more than that and are actually tied into helping the team win. Sponichi mentions that Doala's predictions have been right about 60% of the time.
