JPBPA and the 12 teams of the NPB meet

by on Jul.13, 2010 @ 11:13 pm, under NPB

The Japan Professional Baseball Players Association (JPBPA) and the 12 teams of the NPB met at a facility within the Koshien Stadium grounds earlier today to discuss various methods to help improve playing conditions for players.  The JPBPA brought up their request to lower compensation requirements for free agents while the NPB spoke about their ideas for something similar to a Rule 5 Draft, a disabled list system, and adding inter-league games to the Ni-gun schedule.

The JPBPA will bring up the proposals suggested by the NPB during their next meeting on the 23rd.

The two sides also agreed to a flat-rate of 2M yen for moving expenses for players that are traded, beginning with players that were traded in 2009 off-season (it used to vary based on location).
