Nikkan Sports is carrying a report that Kenji Jojima was surprised to hear he was selected for the HR Derby instead of someone like Craig Brazell or Tony Blanco.

I'm actually not entirely surprised to hear that he got the nod from fans for the HR Derby at Softbank Dome because of his past history with the Hawks.  As for Brazell, I don't think he was eligible (he wasn't on the list of nominated players) because he wasn't on the 28-man All-Star roster (29 with the Plus One).

Still, based on the number of homers hit this year and last year, it seems Alex Ramirez or Blanco would have been the more interesting of choices, at least for the game at Hard Off Eco Stadium.
