Japan dropped its game against Chinese Taipei, 3-1 on the 13th.

Naoki Shirahama got the start (and the loss) for Japan and allowed 2 runs (both earned) over 5.2 innings of work.  Tsuyoshi Matsushita (.1 IP, 0 ER) and Yusuke Matsubayashi (2.0 IP, 1 ER) rounded out the staff that pitched in the game.

Japan is now in last place with the US with a 1-3 record over 4 games.  The Netherlands remained undefeated and moved into sole possession of first place with their 10-0 drubbing of Cuba.

Japan is scheduled to play Cuba at 14:00 on the 14th (7/14 at 21:00 Japan time).
