Yudai Ono gave up 6 runs (5 earned) in his first start against Cuba back on the 9th. He bounced back nicely from that start with a complete game victory against Cuba on the 14th.
Ono seemed to struggle with his control a little, walking 5 batters over 9 innings, but still managed to keep Cuba to 2 runs (1 earned) on 7 hits. It should be noted that Cuba currently leads all teams with 24 runs scored.
Koki Uchiyama led the offense with 2 hits in 4 trips to the plate and drove in Japan's third run in the 2nd inning with an RBI single to right (following a lead-off triple by Ryuki Fujii). Uchiyama also led off the 7th with a double and came around to score Japan's 4th and final run of the game.
The victory moves Japan into third place (behind Cuba) with a 2-3 record.
