...Keiichi Hirano and batting coach Yutaka Wada were both ejected from tonight's game.  Hirano was ejected for throwing down his helmet after being called out at first first base in the 4th inning with a runner on third and 2 out.  Wada joined him when he ran out of the dugout and shoved the umpire.  The last time two Hanshin players / staff were ejected in one game was back in 2002 (manager Senichi Hoshino and chief batting coach Koichi Tabuchi).

...Yuya Ando tossed a shutout inning in relief last night, his first appearance out of the pen since 8/29/2007 (vs Hiroshima).

...Tomoaki Kanemoto was back in the starting line-up last night and went 0-for-4.  It was his first game back in the starting line-up as a left fielder since 4/17 (vs Yokohama).  (Kanemoto was also in the starting line-up a few times during Inter-league play as a DH, but this is as an outfielder.)

...Jim Armstrong (AP writer working out of Japan) put together an article on Matt Murton.

...Tsuyoshi Shimoyanagi will likely be taken off the active roster today since he isn't scheduled to start another game until after the All-Star break.  The Tigers will likely call-up Keisuke Kano to take over Shimoyanagi's spot on the roster.
