...Seems Shinnosuke Abe may be the first catcher to hit 30 homers before the All-Star break.  He's also the third catcher to hit 30 homers at least four times in his career.  The other two catchers: Katsuya Nomura and Koichi Tabuchi.

...Hisayoshi Chono hit his 14th homer of the season yesterday.  That moves him above Abe's rookie mark of 13 into 6th place on the franchise All-time list for first year players.

...Marc Kroon gave up a walk-off grand slam to Brett Harper (YOK) yesterday.  This isn't the first time Kroon gave up a walk-off grand slam: he once gave up a walk-off grand slam back in his Yokohama days against Orix on 5/27/2006.  Kroon joins Motoyasu Kaneshiro as the only other pitcher to give up two walk-off grand slams (10/3/1979 and 6/9/1984; both came with 1-run leads).  But Kroon stands alone as the only pitcher to give up two walk-off grand slams with a 3-run lead.

Kroon also became the third pitcher in franchise history to surrender a walk-off grand slam.  The other two Yomiuri pitchers: Masayuki Kasahara on 4/27/1954 and Tsuneo Horiuchi on 8/2/1966.
