Seems the Marines would like Norifumi Nishimura to return next season (he's in the first year of a 2-year deal). And it seems the Marines could be interested in keeping him around for longer.
Said club president Ryuzo Setoyama, "Similar to the first half, we'd like to see [Nishimura] manage this team just as well in the second half and focus on getting back into first place. We'll of course have him return next season, we'd also like to see him stick around long term."
The Sponichi article also mentions that the club is talking about Nishimura long-term in order to keep the club together and provide some stability. Interestingly, the article also mentions how Lotte may not want to make the same mistake of allowing team unity to fall apart like it did when the front office didn't respond to multiple long-term contract extension requests by former manager Bobby Valentine beginning partway through the 2008 season.
