Ichiro Suzuki started in right and batted first.  He went 3-for-5: double down the right field line, double to left-center, ground out to second, RBI double to left, fly out to center.  The last time Ichiro collected three hits in one game was on 6/12.

Ichiro now has 132 hits and is on pace to finish the season with 208 hits.

Nationals 5 - Braves 3
Takashi Saito entered the game in the 8th, with the Braves down 4-3, and gave up a solo homer in an inning of relief.  Final line: 1 IP, 4 BF, 1 H, 2 SO, 0 BB, 1 R, 1 ER.


Kazuo Matsui went 0-for-5 with a strikeout against the triple-A Sacamento River Cats on the 29th.  He started at short and batted second.


Ryota Igarashi tossed an inning in relief against the triple-A Columbus Clippers on the 29th and gave up a run (earned) on 3 hits.  Final line: 29 (18) NP (S), 6 BF, 1 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 2 SO, 0 HR.


Seems Koji Uehara wasn't too happy about Miguel Tejada getting traded away.  Said Ueda, "When a weak team loses a key player, they only get weaker."
