The Dragons hit six homers and lose

by on Aug.02, 2010 @ 9:34 am, under NPB

The Chunchi Dragons hit six homer runs last night against the Hanshin Tigers and still managed to lose.

The last time the team hit 6 homers in one game was back on 6/14/2003 (vs Yokohama).  But the last time the team hit 6 home runs and lost?  That's apparently only happened on one other occasion: 8/5/1981 vs the Yomiuri Giants in an 11-8 loss.

Had Takehiro Donoue and Masahiro Araki not connected for singles in the top of the 9th with 2 outs, the Dragons would have finished out the game with nothing but home runs for hits.  And the 6 home runs they hit would have set a new NPB record.  As it stands, the current NPB record for games with nothing but home runs for hits is 4.
