What I want to know is why was Ogura moved to the bullpen? I haven’t seen anyone called up recently, and if anyone should be moved to the pen, it’s Houlton considering how awful he’s been this season.

I don’t think that’s a permanent thing. Ogura started on 8/1 and tossed 41 pitches over an inning of work. I’m guessing the Hawks figured Ogura could pitch a couple of inning in relief since he had a short outing during his previous start.

Unfortunately, two bad back-to-back outings may have put Ogura’s next start in jeopardy. We’ll have to wait and see what the team does.

It’s not like Ogura’s been lights-out, but he’s been better than some of the alternatives for SoftBank at ni-gun. They do have a lot of options, but not too many of them are good for anything more than a spot start.

You’ve got no argument from me there. But the team will ultimately need both Ogura and Houlton down the stretch.
