The Chunichi Dragons recorded their 10th walk-off victory of the season last night (which leads both leagues) when Masahiko Morino hit a walk-off single in the bottom of the 10th with runners on first and second and 1 out.
The franchise high of 11 walk-off victories was set back in 1988. 10 walk-off victories matches the totals the Dragons collected in 1954, 1967, and 1999. Of the four times in the past that the team has notched 10 or more walk-off victories in a season, the Dragons have gone on to win the CL three times (1954, 1988, and 1999).
On a side note, it seems Hiromitsu Ochiai told Morino that if he didn't hit the ball, he'd be required to attend practice today. Normally that might not be a huge issue, but Morino apparently wanted to get his driver's license renewed today. With the hit, he secured the day off.
Note: It seems the league high of 14 walk-off victories was set by both Yomiuri (1968) and Yakult (1993).
