Tanaka records fourth season of 100+ strikeouts

by on Aug.16, 2010 @ 12:05 pm, under NPB

Masahiro Tanaka struck out 7 batters in his start yesterday against the Chiba Lotte Marines.  That gives him 106 strikes on the year and makes Tanaka the first pitcher drafted out of high school to record 100+ strikeouts in four consecutive seasons (beginning in his first year) since Yutaka Enatsu (Hanshin) did it in 1970.

Tanaka missed some time due to a hamstring injury and told reporters that he wasn't satisfied with his first half and that he probably should have had more strikeouts at this point in the season.
