by on Aug.19, 2010 @ 2:46 pm, under MLB

Games from the 18th:

Angels 7 - Red Sox 5
Hideki Matsui was the starting DH and batted fifth.  He went 1-for-3: DP, double to center, ground out to second, walk.  Matsui was replaced by a pinch-runner after his walk in the 8th.

Mariners 6 - Orioles 5
Ichiro Suzuki started in right and batted first.  He went 1-for-5: line out to second, fly out to right, RBI double to right, ground out to second, ground out to short.

Rockies 3 - Dodgers 2
Hiroki Kuroda started the game and gave up 2 runs over 7 innings of work.  He was not involved in the final decision.  Final line: 7 IP, 28 BF, 6 H, 7 SO, 1 BB, 2 R, 2 ER.

Mets 3 - Houston 2
Hisanori Takahashi entered the game in the 9th, with 1 out and the score tied at 2, and did not give up a run over 1.2 innings of work.  Final line: 1.2 IP, 5 BF, 0 H, 1 SO, 0 BB, 0 R, 0 ER.

Daisuke Matsuzaka did not go through with his usual practice schedule on the 18th (he usually does some throwing three days before his next start).  Seems the Red Sox wanted Mastuzaka to take an extra day of rest before doing any throwing (he threw a season high 115 pitches during his last start) and will instead have him do a little light throwing on the 19th.

A infield single Ichiro collected on the 8th in a game against the Royals was reversed to an E6.  When asked what he thought of the change, Ichiro replied by asking "Why ask such a question?"  He then added that if the change isn't made, maybe he doesn't get his double today.
