8/24/2010: Hideki Matsui, Ichiro Suzuki, Kosuke Fukudome

Rays 4 - Angels 3
Hideki Matsui was the starting DH and batted fifth.  He went 1-for-4: strike out swinging (reached based on dropped third strike), 2-run double to center, strikeout swinging, fly out to center.

Red Sox 6 - Mariners 3
Ichiro Suzuki started in right and batted first.  He went 1-for-3: strikeout swinging, intentional walk, single to left, ground out to second.

Cubs 9 - Nationals 1
Kosuke Fukudome entered the game in the 3rd for Marlon Byrd, who was hit by a pitch and taken out of the game as a precaution.  He went 2-for-4: single to right, ground out to second, RBI single to center, foul out to third.

This was Fukudome's 21st multi-hit game of the year.


Hideki Okajima lasted just 0.1 innings against the triple-A Buffalo Bisons on the 23rd and gave up 4 runs on 4 hits (including a 2-run homer).  Final line: 16-13 NP-S, 5 BF, 0.1 IP, 4 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 0 BB, 0 SO, 1 HR.


Kazuo Matsui went 1-for-5 with a run scored and a strikeout against the triple-A Fresno Grizzlies on the 23rd.  Matsui started at second and batted first.


Akinori Iwamura was used as a pinch-hitter (for the pitcher) against the triple-A Louisville Bats on the 23rd.  Iwamura entered the game in the 8th and struck out looking.


Kento Tsujimoto tossed 1.1 innings of relief (6th with a runner on first two outs and the 7th) against the Orange County Flyers on the 22nd and gave up 2 runs (both earned).  Final line: 8 BF, 1.1 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 0 BB, 2 SO.
