It seems there's at least one person on the Yomiuri Giants that doesn't like Seth Greisinger.
Head coach Haruki Ihara told reporters the other day that the Giants didn't need a pitcher like Greisinger on the team.
A translation of his quote:
We don't need a pitcher like [Greisinger]. To start complaining of aches and pains at a time like this, we can't use pitchers like that.
One thing to keep in mind is that the quote may have been taken out of context. And while I can understand the frustration, airing it out to the media like this, especially with regards to a foreign player, will probably do more harm than good.
Incidentally, the Giants signed Greisinger to a 1-year deal worth 260M yen during the winter. The deal also includes a club-option for the 2011 season. Unless the quote was taken out of context, my guess would be that Greisinger doesn't return next year.
