Sponichi mentions that the speed gun at Jingu Stadium may be a bit fast compared to other stadiums (depending on the stadium, as much as a 10km/h difference).  It should be notced that the three games (twice on 7/29 vs Hiroshima; once on 8/4 vs Chunichi; twice on 8/12 vs Yomiuri) in which Yoshiori hit 158km/h this year were also at Jingu Stadium.

Yoshinori Sato hit 161km/h on the radar gun tonight in a game against the Yokohama Bay Stars and became the first Japanese pitcher in the NPB to hit the mark.  Yoshinori hit 161km/h with his 5th pitch to Terrmel Sledge in the 5th inning.

The NPB record of 162km/h was first set by Marc Kroon on 8/11/2005.

The previous record of 158km/h for Japanese pitchers in the NPB was set by Yoshinori and three other pitchers: Hideki Irabu (5/3/1993), Kazuo Yamaguchi (7/29/2002), and Ryota Igarashi (6/3/2004).
