It seems 26-year-old Masahiro Nagata recently submitted paperwork to the Orix Buffaloes' front office notifying them of his desire to retire. The club is expected to go along with Nagata and make an official announcement of his retirement sometime in the very near future.
Nagata was originally selected by the Yomiuri Giants in the 2002 draft. After 4 years with the Giants, he was traded to Orix prior to the 2007 season. Nagata has not seen any Ichi-gun action since 2007 and never managed to collect a hit in his 18 trips to the plate (17 games spanning 5 years).
