Ichiro Suzuki started in right and batted first.  He went 2-for-5: foul out to third, triple to right-center, ground out to third, infield single, ground out to second.

Ichiro has hit safely in 10 straight games.

Akiko Wada (singer) was in the stands watching Ichiro play.

Orioles 3 - Angels 1
Hideki Matsui was the starting DH and batted fifth.  He went 0-for-3: strikeout swinging, fly out to left, fly out to left.

Matsui's 10-game hitting streak came to an end.

Koji Uehara tossed a shutout 9th for his 3rd save of the year. Final line: 1 IP, 4 BF, 1 H, 0 SO, 0 BB, 0 R, 0 ER.

Mets 2 - Marlins 1
Hisanori Takahashi entered the game in the 9th with runners on first and third and 1 out.  Takahashi did allow an inherited run to score, but still managed to protect the lead and recorded his 2nd save of the year. Final line: 0.2 IP, 3 BF, 1 H, 1 SO, 0 BB, 0 R, 0 ER.

Kazuo Matsui went 3-for-5 with a strikeout and a run scored against the triple-A Salt Lake Bees on the 27th. Matsui started at second and batted first.

Terry Francona announced on the 27th that Daisuke Matsuzaka's next scheduled start will be on 9/2 (vs the Orioles).  Matsuzaka was supposed to start the game on the 27th against the Rays, but back pains sidelined him.
