NPB GIDP Leaders

by on Sep.05, 2010 @ 12:56 am, under NPB

I was watching the Bay Stars game on TV and when I saw Shuichi Murata ground into another double play (he's hit into a DP in each of the last three games), it got me thinking about who was leading the league in GDPs and whether or not Murata was near the top of that list.

Here's what I found:

Central League

Player Team OPS 3B SB GIDP CHigh
Jojima, Kenji HAN 858 0 8 20 22
Arai, Takahiro HAN 862 0 6 17 20
Castillo, Jose YOK 782 0 3 16 --
Morino, Masahiko CHU 929 0 2 15 (14)
Murata, Shuichi YOK 771 0 0 14 15
Uchikawa, Seiichi YOK 813 4 1 13 16
Ramirez, Alex YOM 923 0 1 13 28
Ibata, Hirokazu CHU 652 0 0 13 16
Tanaka, Hiroyasu YAK 762 1 3 12 14
Toritani, Takashi HAN 857 3 10 12 13

Pacific League

Player Team OPS 3B SB GIDP CHigh
Kim, Tae-Kyun LOT 792 0 0 19 --
Nakamura, Norihiro RAK 730 0 0 18 26
Nakajima, Hiroyuki SEI 904 3 14 17 (17)
Koyano, Eiichi HAM 803 0 8 17 21
Goto, Mitsutaka ORI 791 3 1 15 (12)
Omatsu, Shoitsu LOT 754 2 0 15 (11)
Omura, Saburo LOT 785 2 2 14 (12)
Shima, Motohiro RAK 764 0 9 13 (6)
Sakaguchi, Tomotaka ORI 782 9 7 13 (9)
Iguchi, Tadahito LOT 871 1 2 13 14

The numbers you see in parentheses are previous highs.

Not particularly sexy, but I do find it interesting that a number of players are setting new career highs in GIDPs this year.
