Daisuke Miura headed back to Ni-gun

by on Sep.06, 2010 @ 11:26 am, under NPB

Daisuke Miura (YOK) started yesterday's game against the Yakult Swallows and gave up 5 runs (all earned) on 7 hits in just 2 innings of work.  It was his first Ichi-gun start since he gave up 6 runs (all earned) on 7 hits over 4 innings of work against the Hiroshima Carp on 7/15.

Miura will now be heading back to Ni-gun in order to work on his mechanics some more.

For those wondering, here are Muira's Ni-gun numbers from this season:

G W L Sv CG ShO WPCT BF IP H HR BB IBB HBP SO WP BK R ER ERA
5 2 2 0 0 0 .500 102 21 37 0 6 0 0 14 2 0 14 14 6.00

So it isn't like Miura was shutting down the opponents offense at Ni-gun, but he did toss 5 shutout innings (5 IP, 17 BF, 3 H, 1 BB, 4 SO, 0 R, 0 ER) in his last Ni-gun start on 8/26 (vs Lotte).  Then again, he also did give up 8 earned runs (5 IP, 32 BF, 16 H, 1 BB, 1 SO, 8 R, 8 ER) during his Ni-gun start before that on 8/18 (vs Seibu).

Numbers from his other three Ni-gun starts:

7/28 - 4 IP, 23 BF, 9 H, 3 BB, 2 SO, 3 R, 3 ER

8/3 - 1 IP, 3 BF, 0 H, 0 BB, 2 SO, 0 R, 0 ER

8/10 - 6 IP, 27 BF, 9 H, 1 BB, 5 SO, 3 R, 3 ER
