Buffaloes continue to lean towards Tatsuya Oishi

The Orix Buffaloes continue to show interest in Tatsuya Oishi and appear to be heading towards making him the team's number one pick in the 2010 draft.  It seems the team likes Oishi because of his polish (they project him to be an arm ready to start contributing right away) and because he can start and close.

I wonder where they’re getting the idea he’s a reasonable starter from. I’ve been an Ohishi fan since fall of his freshman year at Waseda, and despite how awesome I think he is, every time he’s started a game (which has been all of like 3 or 4 times in his entire college career anyway) it’s pretty much been a complete disaster. Hell, he pretty much lost the pennant for Waseda last fall when he got knocked out as a starter at Keisousen, giving up 6 runs in 4 innings.

But give him the ball in relief and he can go 6 scoreless innings and strike out 11 guys. It’s bizarre.
