With the Softbank Hawks struggling to get solid outings out of their starters (they're currently 2-4 over their last 11 starts), it seems they're thinking about having some of their relievers start games down the stretch. Keisuke Katto, Masahiko Morifuku, and Takehito Kanazawa appear to be the most likely of candidates, but Nikkan Sports comments that Tadashi Settsu, Brian Falkenborg, and Takahiro Mahara may also get a shot. The Hawks also decided to call up Shota Oba in case they need an emergency start or some relief help.
For the time being Yao-Hsun Yang gets tonight's start; Hiroki Yamada the start on the 9th; and Shinsuke Ogura the start on the 10th. The decision to turn to relievers for starting help will largely depend on how well Yamada and Ogura pitch (it seems this will be their last chance to secure a spot in the rotation).
