Shun Tono (YOM) picked up a hair clipper before practice on Monday and gave himself a buzz cut in order to mix things up a bit. Tono recorded his 12th victory of the year on 8/5 and has since gone 0-5 in his last 5 starts. And it now seems as though the Giants may pitch Tono on 2 days of rest for the following two reasons:
Tono only threw 34 pitches during his start on the 9/5;
and that would line Tono up for starts against the Yakult Swallows (14th) and Hanshin Tigers (20th).
Based on the current rotation, Hideki Asai, Shugo Fujii, and Tetsuya Utsumi are scheduled for starts against the Yokohama Bay Stars. If Tono is to pitch on 2 days of rest, he'll like take Fujii's spot.
