9/13/2010: Ichiro Suzuki, Hideki Matsui, Akinori Iwamura

Angels 3 - Mariners 0
Ichiro Suzuki started in right and batted first.  He went 1-for-4: ground out to second, ground out to first, ground out to first, single to left.

Ichiro has hit safely in 13 straight games.

Count down to 200: 19 games remaining, 14 more hits needed.  He also needs only 6 more hits for 3,500 NPB + MLB hits.

Hideki Matsui was the starting DH and batted sixth.  He went 1-for-3: catcher interference, strikeout swinging, single to left, strikeout swinging.

Brewers 2 - Cubs 0
Kosuke Fukudome started in right and batted third.  He went 1-for-3: double to right, strikeout swinging, walk, ground out to second.

Fukudome finally picked up a hit after going without one over 12 straight trips to the plate.


Daisuke Matsuzaka tossed 38 pitches in the bullpen on the 12th.  That's on the heals of a 57-pitch bullpen session on the 11th.  And it seems Matsuzaka will throw some more on the 13th before his next start against the Mariners on the 14th.


Looks like Akinori Iwamura may have found a (temporary?) home with the Oakland Athletics.


Buck Showalter and the Orioles appear to be interested in keeping Koji Uehara in Baltimore.
