Sponichi has posted another article that mentions Suzuki telling reporters that a decision had to be made about next year's manager as soon as possible because it was no longer a matter of waiting until the end of the season. Suzuki also said that at this current point in time, the club still wasn't sure what they were going to do.
Sponichi is reporting that Junji Ogawa will most likely be asked to return to the Yakult Swallows next year as their full-time manager (seems a number of people connected to the team mentioned that they heard Ogawa would be asked to return).
Swallows' pitching coach Daisuke Araki was rumored to be the team's next manager, but Ogawa's performance after taking over for Shigeru Takada has been more than satisfactory -- over 81 games, the team has gone 48-30-3. The Swallows have also received a flood of phone calls and e-mail messages from fans asking that Ogawa return next year.
Team president Tadashi Suzuki toed the usual company line by telling reporters he couldn't answer any questions regarding next season's manager position until after the end of the season.
