The Bay Stars announced earlier today that Tomio Tashiro will be stepping down as manager of the Ni-gun club (Shonan Searex) at the end of the season. Yokohama tried to offer Tashiro a front office job, but Tashiro apparently turned down the offer.
Tashiro became a hitting coach in the Yokohama system in 1997 (Ni-gun). He then bounced back and forth between Ni-gun and Ichi-gun (2002, 2004-2006) before finally becoming manager of the Ni-gun club in 2007.
On 5/18/2009, Akihiko Oya stepped down as manager of the Ichi-gun club after a 13-24 start and the Bay Stars selected Tashiro to take the helm for the rest of the season (he finished with a 38-69 record).
Tashiro returned to being manager of the Ni-gun club this year and has so far guided the Searex to a 55-45 record with 3 games left on the schedule (does not include Thursday's game).
