by on Sep.18, 2010 @ 2:48 pm, under MLB

Games from the 17th:

Mariners 2 - Rangers 1
Ichiro Suzuki started in right and batted first.  He went 2-for-4 with 2 steals: bunt single, single to center, fly out to third, strikeout swinging.

Ichiro stole his 40th and 41st bases after recording his single to center in his second at bat of the game in the third inning.  That gives Ichiro four 40+ stolen bases seasons in his MLB career.

Count down to 200: 15 games remaining, 9 more hits needed.  He also needs only 1 more hit for 3,500 NPB + MLB hits.

Angels 4 - Rays 3
Hideki Matsui was the starting DH and batted fourth.  He went 0-for-3: foul out to third, ground out to first, walk, fly out to short.

Athletics 3 - Twins 1
Akinori Iwamura started at third and batted seventh.  He went 1-for-4: infield single, ground out to second, ground out to third, strikeout looking.

This was Iwamura's first hit in four games since joining the Athletics.

Yankees 4 - Orioles 3
Koji Uehara entered the game in the 9th inning, with the Orioles up 3-1, and gave up a lead-changing 3-run homer to Alex Rodriguez for his 2nd loss of the year.  Final line: 0.2 IP, 5 BF, 3 H, 1 SO, 0 BB, 3 R, 3 ER.

Cubs 2 - Marlins 0
Kosuke Fukudome started in right and batted first.  He went 0-for-1: fly out to center, walk, walk, walk.

Rockies 7 - Dodgers 5
Hiroki Kuroda started the game and gave up 5 runs over 6 innings for his 13th loss of the year.  Kuroda is now 10-13 on the year.  Final line: 6 IP, 27 BF, 7 H, 7 SO, 1 BB, 5 R, 3 ER.

Braves 6 - Mets 4
Takashi Saito entered the game in the 8th, with the Braves up 6-4, and struck out the first two batters he faced before having to come out of the game due to discomfort in his right shoulder.  It appears the injury may be related to the one he suffered back in July.  Final line: 0.2 IP, 2 BF, 0 H, 2 SO, 0 BB, 0 R, 0 ER.
