Yu Darvish (HAM) struck out 11 batter last night and now has 209 strikeouts on the year. That gives him three 200-strikeout seasons in his career (first since 2008). Darvish is also 1 strikeout away from establishing a new career high (his current high of 210 strikeouts was set in 2007).
It should be noted that only one other pitcher in franchise history has recorded three 200-strikeout seasons: Masayuki Dobashi with 222 in 1958, 217 in 1959, and 298 in 1961.
Darvish's ERA also dropped his ERA to 1.83 with his 2nd complete shutout of the season. If he manages to keep his ERA under 2 this season (seems he can finish with 1.97 ERA even if he gives up 5 runs over 9 innings in what will likely be his last start of the year), that'll give him four consecutive seasons of a sub-2 ERA.
