Sugiuchi (SOF) got the win and improved to 16-7.  Sugiuchi had gone 0-2 in 4 starts since his last victory on 8/28 (vs Lotte).  Coming into tonight's game, Sugiuchi was 4-1 with a 1.58 ERA against the Fighters. ... Darvish (HAM) took the loss and is now 12-8 this season.  Darvish was 2-0 in 3 starts since his last loss on 8/28 (vs Orix).  Prior to the start, Darvish was 2-2 with a 2.65 ERA in 4 starts against the Hawks.

      Not that I know. Then again, this is also the most he’s ever lost in a season. I’m guessing this is probably one of the most trying season’s Darvish has ever had. Numbers wise, he’s easily having his best season ever, and yet he only has 12 wins. He could easily have 5-6 more wins if the offense actually scored some runs during his starts.

      Granted, when he pitches, he’s usually also facing the opponents ace as well, which means the offense probably won’t be scoring as many runs as they usually do, but still…

      Incidentally, Darvish had 5 starts this season in which he gave up 1 or fewer runs and ended up with a loss on a no decision.
