The Orix Buffaloes only have 5 games left to play on their regular season schedule and they're 2.5 games behind the current third place team, the Nippon Ham Fighters. For the Buffaloes to have any real chance at securing a third place spot in the standings, they essentially need to win all 5 of their remaining games. That's four games against the Chiba Lotte Marines and one game against the Nippon Ham Fighters.
In fact, if my calculations are correct, the Buffaloes won't have any chance of catching the Fighters if the Fighters win one of their three remaining games and the Buffaloes lose one of their 5 remaining games.
In any case, with the remaining games meaning so much, it seems Takahiro Okada wants to be in the starting.
