Some quick notes about the Softbank Hawks winning the Pacific League last night:
It's their first league title since 2003 when the team was still called the Fukuoka Daiei Hawks. It's the franchise's 14th league title.
Koji Akiyama was tossed into he air 6 times.
Tsuyoshi Wada, Toshiya Sugiuchi, and Munenori Kawasaki were tossed into the air.
Hiroki Kokubo was seen tearing up after hearing about the Nippon Ham Fighters beating the Seibu Lions during the game. He told reporters it was like a huge weight was lifted when he heard the news. He also said that he wanted to win at least one more time before retiring.
The Softbank otosan dog was at the celebration, as was Sadaharu Oh.
3,000 bottles of beer and 400 bottles of cola were prepared for the celebration. And it apparently took only 20 minutes for it to disappear.
The celebration took place at the parking lot of the Hotel Metropolitan Sendai.
The fans at the public viewing event cheered wildly the minute the final score from the Seibu game was shown on the big screen.

The Hawks announced yesterday that they will begin selling merchandise commemorating the Hawks league title. Amongst the items to be sold: replica uniforms, t-shirts, plastic megaphones, and fukubukuros. All items will be sold in limited quantities.

Admission fees for the Sadaharu Oh Museum at Yahoo Dome will be reduced for a period of one week (9/28 - 10/3). Adults: 900 yen down to 700 yen. Children: 400 yen down to 300 yen.
Daiei stores in Kyushu will be running sales celebrating the Hawks' league championship for three days beginning on the 27th. Customers will also get 5 times the normal number of points if they shop with their Daiei Heart Point cards.
The Softbank Hawks will be giving a limited edition otosan strap for people that sign new contracts for the their mobile services. They will also be giving away 300,000 straps to current customers, 10,000 straps to non-customers via drawing, and an undisclosed number to fans that become club members for the 2011 season.
Purchases made via mobile phones at Yahoo Japan Shopping between 9/29 @ 6pm and 6/30 2am will be eligible for extra bonus points.
