Nojima Corporation, an electronic appliance store based out of Yokohama, has apparently thrown their names into the ring as a potential buyer for the Yokohama Bay Stars. Chairman and president of Nojima Corporation, Hiroshi Nojima, told reporters in front of his house that the rumors were true and that the company contacted the TBS about their interest on Friday (10/1).
And while JS Group Corporation is currently rumored to be in the lead, Nojima Corporation could prove to be an interesting candidate because of their strong ties to Yokohama. And unlike JS Group Corporation, Nojima Corporation is hoping to keep the club in Yokohama.
Incidentally, team owner Kiyoshi Wakabayashi told reporters yesterday that all things considered, it would make the most sense for the Bay Stars to stay in Yokohama and keep their name as is. Regarding rumors about the club moving to Niigata, Wakayabashi told reporters that it was unlikely.
