While SoftBank didn’t dominate Lotte in the regular season, they do seem to have the advantage. However, when saying that I also must channel the 2005 Climax Series Second Stage, which is a scenario I believe is identical to this one.

Lotte beat Seibu in the First Stage, and handily, and in the Second Stage SoftBank almost came all the way back from a 2-0 deficit before losing in the deciding game.

In short, stats are all well and good, but as Chris Berman says, “that’s why they play the game.”

Jim, I think head to head record of 15-9-0 (with 128-95 RS, .288 vs .230 AVG, 3.30 vs. 4.70 ERA) is quite dominant.
But yeah, “Statistics are like a bikini. What they reveal is suggestive, but what they conceal is vital.” Let’s see how they play for the vital.
