Yusei Kikuchi will apparently add a fork ball to his repertoire for the 2011 season because he wants an off-speed pitch that moves vertically. While Kikuchi has always been able to throw a fork, he hasn't thrown it with any real consistency. To that end, Kikuchi has been working on stretching out his fingers by grasping baseballs with his index finger and middle finger.
Kikuchi is also working on adding more muscle -- he's trying to increase his weight from 86kg to 90kg without pushing his current body fat percentage above 8%.
And since the Lions are being careful with Kikuchi (he's working his way back from left shoulder pain), he probably won't be throwing off a mound until the start of the new year.
