Koji Akiyama will return next season as manager of Hawks

Softbank Hawks owner Kazuhiko Kasai told reporters that Koji Akiyama will return next season to finish out the final year of a 3 years deal.

When asked about his international FA option after yesterday's loss, Hitoshi Tamura said, "Are you serious?  The series just ended and all I want to do now is go home and relax."

Brian Falkenborg, Jose Ortiz, and Roberto Petagine all apparently expressed a desire to remain with the Softbank Hawks next season.

Sadaharu Oh's thoughts on the loss:

The world of competition is not easy.  They were able to play their game, we weren't.  This might not be the best analogy, but it's like a coin toss.

Softbank held a viewing of the game at their company cafeteria in Minatoku for the 6th straight day.  About 900 employees showed up to watch the game and support the Hawks.

The last time the Hawks won the Nippon Series was in 2003.  Since then, they have made it to the postseason 6 times and failed to reach the Nippon Series each time.
