Eishin Soyogi apparently feels the infield at Mazda Stadium is too soft and isn't really conducive to base-stealing. As such, he's hoping to ask the Hiroshima Carp to pack the infield dirt in a little more next season.
Said Soyogi, "Because [the dirt] is soft, sometimes that first step isn't so good. I can't always get a good acceleration. If I have a chance, I'd like to talk to the club about it."
The Hanshin Tigers did something similar for Norihiro Akahoshi at Koshien Stadium.
